The Beginning
FreeState Healthcare started as a group of doctors using modern technology to help isolated rural communities obtain access to affordable healthcare using telemedicine years before COVID-19. To do this, we built a network of good-hearted physicians working at low prices and a low-cost, high-performance technology platform to make it all work. At the time we were called Vigilias Telehealth. The video above is from that time.
The Awakening
We later learned that building technology and doctor networks was the easy part. Despite the fact that our solution was 1/150th the price of the most popular technology at the time and quickly began saving Kansans millions on healthcare, we faced stiff resistance from skeptical insurance companies. It took four years to overcome this. During this period we learned how to survive without typical insurance payments for services.
The Present
Over time FreeState Healthcare spun off. It is meant to be a model for a new kind of hybrid healthcare delivery, built only to support excellent clinical medicine and the needs of patients in whatever form they take. In our view the single biggest need everywhere is affordability.
